WHERE YOU ARE BELOVED!

You did not receive the ‘spirit of religious duty’ leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child! In a world filled with disapproval, rejection and opposition, the one place we are guaranteed full acceptance is with God. The one place we know for sure we are beloved is with our Heavenly Father. Through the One who faced more rejection, antipathy and resistance than all of us put together, we receive continual affirmation and complete standing as children of God.

We don’t turn to God as a religious exercise to prove ourselves acceptable—that would be slavery. We come to Father God through the power of the cross that opens access to the abundant life, love and identity we’ve longed for.
