I plead with you to walk holy, in a way that is suitable to your high rank, given to you in your divine calling. With tender humility and quiet patience, always demonstrate gentleness and generous love towards one another, especially toward those who may try your patience… Ephesians 4:1-2 TPT
Tender humility? Quiet patience? Generous love?
Is that what you experience in church? Is it what you bring into your own faith community?
This is the strategy for safeguarding the sweet harmony of the Spirit. The alternative is strife, envy, argument, division, backbiting, gossip and offense.
Offense is a biggie! We live in a culture that is quick to take offense. If we behave like culture around us, we are not being the church. We cannot have unity and community with offense running amuck in the house of God.
So who will we be?
Humble, patient, generous in love and mercy?
Or proud, prickly and prone to leap to judgment?
Mercy triumphs over judgment. Make mercy your default. Live where Jesus lives. Learn to be unoffendable . . .
