• TO WAR OR NOT TO WAR? — WAR ROOM #2

    Are you battle ready?

War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing! is a line from a popular anti-war song in 1970. While disapproval of war feels right and true in the earthly realm, it’s an entirely different story in the spiritual realm. In fact, it’s an outright lie.

Consider this—God is referred to as the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, Almighty God, more than any other name in the Bible. He’s a warrior God. Over and over again His word exhorts us to stand against the enemy. He provides us with His full battle armor as our protection. Why? Because we were made to war together with Him for His kingdom plans and purposes in the earth.

Cultivated opposition to war is a worldly mindset designed to keep us from asserting resistance at any level. To our discredit and at our peril, we’ve come into agreement with that way of thinking, choosing to forget that spiritual warfare continuously rages all around us.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

While we’re being indoctrinated into passivity, the battle around us has become increasingly violent and insidious. John 10:10 says The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. The Greek word thuo used here is not the usual word for kill. It means sacrifice or slaughter—the killing of a large number of people—a massacre. The enemy’s intention is our complete annihilation! Why are we aiding and abetting him by sitting on the sidelines, conducting business as usual, refusing to fight back?

Annihilation is not God’s plan for us. He’s given us everything we need to stand against the enemy onslaught. People of God, we’re beyond preparing for war. We are at war! Are you ready to take your battle position, arm up and stand?

Where have you relaxed your spiritual vigilance?

What discernment do you need from God to to more effectively join the fight?

In what place or position does God want you to stand against the enemy?

Know your enemy and know yourself,
and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster.
