• PSALM 23:1

She has cancer. He has been dealing with a type of slow developing dementia for about two years. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. While she is not feeling well, he’s feeling fine. She is weak in physical strength. He serves her tirelessly doing for her the little things she can’t do for herself. His memories are fading. He gets confused. She remembers well.

Their daughter wrote: “So here we are. Carol is vibrant in mind and Ed is tireless in body and help. Could you think of a better story? They have become one: one mind, one body, one life. Late at night, laying in bed with hands held they say the Lord’s Prayer and the 23rd Psalm.”

They know their shepherd and look to him for what they need.

We have an array of shepherds to choose to follow. How does your shepherd show up for you? How does he fulfill his position of care and concern for your needs?

“The Lord is my Shepherd. I lack nothing.” Psalm 23:1 NIV
