For such a time as this!
A special message from guest contributor Kim Dixon.

Peace, more peace please!

The familiar passage, Be still and know that I am God from Psalm 46, begins with God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble and ends with The LORD Almighty is with us, the God of Jacob is our fortress.

I’ve often looked at this passage through a lens of self-condemnation and I would beat myself up for not trusting or stilling enough. After all, isn’t this a command to BE STILL AND KNOW?

I was convinced—I just needed to try harder!

However, my own striving, failure and self-contempt kept me from opening my heart to God and accepting His free gifts. That’s right—the harder I tried, the less I was able to receive from God. As long as I tried to prove myself worthy, I failed to receiveHis grace that instantly and supernaturally establishes me as worthy.

No amount of self-flagellation, negative self-talk, or simply trying harder could ever earn what I desired most—

  • To be known in thought, word, deed to the depth of my soul and . . .
  • Still be wanted, even delighted in, as well as . . .
  • Drawn more deeply into the refuge that never fails or grows faint.
My problem? To stop listening to and mimicking the accuser’s voice!  I actually had to stop trying. Not just “stop trying so hard” but STOP TRYING!

By ceasing my struggle to prove myself, God was able to draw me into His REST where the core of my being becomes still. In His place of peaceful refuge, I am receiving an intimacy and clarity from the huge heart of God as only He can give. I am finally HOME, really HOME.

As Psalm 46:11 says, the God of Jacob is our fortress. If you’re still struggling with God and man like Jacob did, then it’s time to accept that Jesus already won this battle for us. It’s time to accept a new name like Jacob did.

Today is the day to stop striving to earn your place.
Today is the day to surrender to God’s loving-kindness in a new way.
Today is the day to receive your true inheritances as a son or daughter of the King.

God is offering right now supernatural GRACE, PEACE, and a CLOSENESS that never fails.  He is offering a refuge and fortress where we hear God’s own voice singing over us in love and we live in full communion with Him and each other.

Fasten me upon your heart as a seal of fire forevermore. This living, consuming flame will seal you as my prisoner of love. My passion is stronger than the chains of death and the grave, all consuming as the very flashes of fire from the burning heart of God. Place this fierce, unrelenting fire over your entire being. Song of Songs 8:6 TPT

In what ways are you striving to earn a place in the heart of God?

Are you ready to begin receiving your inheritance in a whole new way?

God’s heart offers you an open invitation to abide there in His love.

What would it look like for you to stop striving and start accepting more of what Father God freely offers today?
